  14. I removed a Digicom softmodem and installed a new 288 modem, but get some 
  15. strange blue warning screens on bootup and connect.
  16. Perhaps some of you have gone thru this and can make some suggestions.
  17. I first removed the Digicom with the modem icon in control panel or 
  18. whatever.
  19. Then removed the Digicom card and installed the new modem.  Rem,d the 
  20. softmodem lines in autoexec. bat, booted up and got a blue screen with 
  21. this warning:

  23. "16550 UART Emulator Disabled
  24. [Soft Modem] 16550 UART emulator is disabled because the data port on the 
  25. DSI card was not found.  You may experience problems running data, fax, 
  26. and voice applications.  This problem may be due to a hardware conflict 
  27. and/or incorrect configuration settings.  Please reconfigure hardware."
  28.  
  29. After pressing any key to continue another blue screen comes up with:

  31. "For Your Information
  32.  
  33. No Softmodem installed"
  34.  
  35. Then I go on to dial up ISP and another blue screen comes up with:

  37. "DSP Board was not found on COM 4.
  38. Verify WIN.INI settings
  39.  
  40. After all these warnings the modem goes on to connect and run 
  41. properly......I think.

  43. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
